Biography

Julie Schaffner is Visiting Associate Professor of Development Economics in the Fletcher School at Tufts University and the author of Development Economics: Theory, Empirical Research, and Policy Analysis (Wiley, 2014). Her research relates to labor markets and poverty dynamics in developing countries, and to program evaluation. Her teaching emphasizes the... read moreanalytical and econometric skills required for rigorous, evidence-based work in poverty reduction and development. She received the Fletcher School’s James L. Paddock Teaching Award in 2008. Before coming to the Fletcher School, she served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, and Deputy Director of the Center for Research on Economic Development and Policy Reform, at Stanford University. She has consulted for the World Bank and UNESCO. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
