John Edman is Professor and Director of the Center for Vector-Borne Diseases at the University of California, Davis. Previously he was Head of Entomology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Assistant Director of the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory. Dr. Edman has a 40 year-record of distinguished research on the biology and control of mosquitoes and their roles as vectors of human disease pathogens. He is a world leader in the area of blood-feeding behavior of mosquitoes. His current research interests are the ecology and behavior of blood-feeding, vector-host-parasite-environment interactions, and the transmission dynamics of arboviral and protozoan diseases transmitted by arthropods.
