Biography
Abba J. Kastin was educated at Harvard College and Medical School. After starting his work on neuropeptides at NIH, he moved on to Louisiana at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. Author of more than 800 papers, he has been listed among the 100 researchers most cited in the scientific literature.... read moreHe held positions as President of The International Neuropeptide Society, editor-in-chief of the international journal Peptides, and editor of the comprehensive Handbook of Biologically Active Peptides. In recognition of the concepts he introduced into the peptide field, Dr. Kastin was awarded an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University (Sweden), honorary professorship in the Peking University Health Science Center, and honorary memberships in the Brazilian Society of Toxinology and Indian Society of Comparative Endocrinology. Dr. Kastin sadly passed away following a long illness in March 2022.
