Biography

Donna Dickenson is Emeritus Professor of Medical Ethics and Humanities at the University of London. She has published widely on issues concerning property in the body, such as ownership of tissue and genetic material. Previously she taught at Imperial College School of Medicine, London, working extensively with clinicians in both... read moreresearch and teaching, and held an endowed chair in Global Ethics at the University of Birmingham.. For many years she served on the Ethics Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, helping to draw up guidelines for practice in controversial areas. On the international level, she was Principal Investigator of four European Commission projects in such areas as evidence-based medicine and property in human tissue. She is the author of 25 books and over a hundred academic articles.
