Leroy Hood is the president and co-founder of Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) in Seattle, Washington. He has had a resounding effect on the advancement of science since the 1960s. Most notably, he was involved in the development of five instruments critical for contemporary biology, including the automated DNA sequencer... read moreand synthesizer. He founded ISB in 2000 and since has been pioneering new approaches to P4 medicine (predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory). His current focus is the 100,000-person Wellness Project, which will transform and democratize healthcare. Dr. Hood has received numerous awards, including the National Medal of Science, the highest honor the President of the United States can bestow on a scientist.
