Biography

Jose Bras is a molecular geneticist with a special interest in how genetic variability acts on neurodegenerative diseases. His scientific career started with a Bachelor’s degree from Coimbra Polytechnic Institute, Portugal in 2002. His PhD was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Andrew Singleton and Dr. Catarina Oliveira at the Laboratory of Neurogenetics at the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, USA, studying the genetic basis of movement disorders. In 2010 Jose joined UCL as a postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Molecular Neuroscience, where he continues to study the genetic basis of various neurological syndromes.
