Biography

Shay Soker is a Professor of Regenerative Medicine at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Soker is a cell and molecular biologist that has a special interest in vascular biology, stem cells and the extracellular matrix, all are important areas in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Dr. Soker received... read morehis postdoctoral training at the Children’s Hospital Boston and Harvard Medical School, where he had his first faculty appointment in the division of surgery. He later moved to North Carolina open the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem. Among his main contributions are the integration of molecular and cellular biology principles in regenerative medicine applications. Some of Dr. Soker’s projects are now being discussed with industry collaborators in order to create new regenerative medicine product. Dr. Soker has published more than 120 research manuscripts in scientific journals. Dr. Soker obtained funding for his research from different sources including NIH, DoD, NCI, the state of North Carolina, private foundations and industry.
