He became interested in enteric glia during his postdoctoral fellowship with Keith Sharkey at the University of Calgary Health Science Centre. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Neuroscience Program and Department of Physiology at Michigan State University and is actively investigating the roles of enteric glia in the intestine. Particular research interests include determining how enteric glial cells influence gut functions in health and how glial changes affect neuron survival in disease.
