Susan S. Fiorito is currently the Interim Chair and Professor of Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Information Systems after teaching retailing and merchandising for over 30 years. She has been at Florida State University since 1990. She obtained her Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University while assisting in the development and delivery of... read moreworkshops, manuals, and consulting sessions for small and family-owned business owners at the Dallas Merchandise Mart. Dr. Fiorito also taught at the University of Iowa for seven years. In addition, she owned and operated a wholesale leather goods company and owned and managed a small retail apparel business. Dr. Fiorito has received grants from the Florida Retail Federation, Disney, the Coleman Foundation, Andersen Consulting, and JC Penney Company, among others. She has published her research in journals that include the Journal of Retailing, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, Clothing and Textiles Research Journal, and the Journal of Small Business Management. She has developed graduate and undergraduate classes in entrepreneurship, retailing and merchandising. She has taught summer study abroad courses in Milan, Paris and London several years and has spent one year on sabbatical at the University of Stirling in Scotland were she taught retailing courses at the graduate level and developed a buying module for their Executive MBA program. Dr. Fiorito was the first woman president of the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA). Dr. Fiorito is only one of two professors in Florida to be on the Board for the Florida Retail Federation. She and her co-author Mike Gable have written a text “Retail Buying Practices and Policies in a Global Economy,” that will be in press January 2011, and is published by Prentice Hall.
