Biography

Thomas D. Lairson is the Gelbman Professor of International Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Dr. Lairson received the B.S. in economics and the Ph.D. in political science from the University of Kentucky. He teaches courses broadly in the area of international political economy, focusing on Japan and... read moreEast Asia, Chinese business, economy and politics. Dr. Lairson was the first Ford Foundation Professor of International Relations in 1994 at the Institute for International Relations in Hanoi and created the semester-long Rollins Program in Shanghai, where he has taught three times. He was awarded a Senior Fulbright Fellowship for Singapore in 2011, and has taught in the MBA program at East China University of Science and Technology and at Wuhan University. Dr. Lairson is co-author of International Political Economy: The Struggle for Power and Wealth, Wadsworth, 2003 and forthcoming from Routledge, 2013. He has published several articles recently on the global financial crisis and U.S.-China relations and is completing two books, “Knowledge, Institutions and Economic Growth in Asia,” and “The Political Economy of a Knowledge-Intensive World.”
