Biography

Joann Peck is an associate professor in the marketing department and the Dean of the Undergraduate program at the Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, her MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her PhD from the... read moreUniversity of Minnesota. Her primary research focus is on haptics (the sense of touch) and consumer behavior. Her research has been published in the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the Journal of Business Research, and the Journal of Retailing. Dr. Peck’s research has been cited in U.S. News and World Report, Time.com, the Canadian Broadcast Company and others. After finishing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Peck taught high school math for five years. She has also taught at every level from preschool (a cooking class at the YMCA) to executive education. During her high school teaching years, she was awarded a Joseph Klingenstein scholarship designed for high school teachers to study at Columbia University. Since then she has received various teaching awards including the University of Wisconsin School of Business marketing professor of the year, the School of Business Lawrence J. Larson excellence in teaching award and the campus wide Emil H. Steiger Distinguished Teaching Award.
