Dr. Bishai is the Director of the KwaZulu-Natal Research Institute for Tuberculosis and HIV (K-RITH), located in Durban, South Africa, and he is the Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins University Center for Tuberculosis Research in Baltimore, MD, USA. Dr. Bishai then earned his MD and PhD (Microbiology and Molecular Genetics) degrees at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bishai has been working in the tuberculosis field for nearly 20 years, and his research interests range from the molecular pathogenesis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to the optimization of TB drug regimens.
