Biography

Murray R. Barrick is a Distinguished University Professor and the Robertson Chair in the Department of Management at the Mays Business School at Texas A & M University, and a member of the field of Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior. His research focuses on the impact individual differences in... read morebehavior and personality have on job performance. He also studies work team success, examining the role of team composition, team interdependence, and team processes on team performance. Further, he has examined the influence CEO and TMT member personality, leadership, and team effectiveness have on firm performance. Finally, he has examined the influence candidate self-presentation tactics have on the interviewer during an employment interview. His work has been cited over 13,000 times (Google Scholar, Feb., 2012). Barrick, along with Mick Mount, was the 2009 recipient of the Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He also has been recognized as the 5th most published author in 2 of these management journals in the 1990's (based on category rank), the 39th most cited author in Management between 1981-2004, and other awards. He has been the keynote speaker at SIOP Conferences in South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand and is a Fellow of SIOP, the Academy of Management, and the American Psychological Society.
