Biography

Andrew Singleton received his BSc degree from the University of Sunderland and his PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, where he studied genetic causes and contributors to dementia. Dr. Singleton performed postdoctoral training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, studying the genetic basis of neurological diseases such... read moreas dystonia, ataxia, essential tremor and Parkinson's disease. In 2001, he joined the National Institute of Aging, National Institutes of Health, as a principal investigator. Dr. Singleton's group investigates the genetic mechanisms underlying simple-Mendelian and complex neurological diseases including Parkinson's disease, stroke, dystonia and ataxia.
