Dr. David A. Dougan La Trobe University, Australia
1 TalkBiography
David Dougan is Head of the Protein Homeostasis Laboratory at the Institute for Molecular Sciences at La Trobe University. He obtained his doctoral degree in 1998, at CSIRO in Melbourne, Australia, before heading to Germany where he continued his scientific training as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Freiburg,... read morein the group of Prof. Bukau. Here he developed an interest in the network of proteins responsible for protein quality control in Escherichia coli. In 2001, he moved to the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH) at the University of Heidelberg where he continued his work on adaptor proteins, and their modulation of AAA+ proteases in bacteria. In 2004, he was awarded an Australian Research Council QEII Fellowship and moved to La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia where he started his own research laboratory. David's current research involves the role of regulatory proteolysis in protein homeostasis, both in bacteria and mammalian mitochondria.
