Biography

Martin J. Blaser, M.D., has been Chair of the Department of Medicine, Frederick H. King Professor of Internal Medicine, and Professor of Microbiology at NYU School of Medicine since 2000. Dr. Blaser's research has focused on bacterial pathogenesis for more than 30 years. He works on the role of Campylobacter... read moreand Helicobacter species, among other organisms, in human disease, and most recently on the human microbiome. Such work provides insights into diseases involving metabolism and the cardiovascular system. His studies of microbiology provide models for translational research in gastroenterology, endocrinology, cardiovascular disease, as well as oncology.
