He has received international recognition for his work with Prizes, Awards and honorary degrees world-wide, including: the Cameron Prize, the Kettering Prize from the General Motors Cancer Research Foundation, the American Cancer Society Medal of Honor, the Karnofsky Award from the American Society for Clinical Oncology and the St. Gallen Prize (Switzerland) for Clinical Breast Cancer Research. In 2016, he was identified by the German Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics as one of the “Big Four of the Millennium”, who created the current standards of women’s health in the 21st century. In 2002, he was appointed OBE by her Majesty the Queen for services in international breast cancer research. He has held multiple prestigious academic Chairs, including: The Diana, Princess of Wales Professor of Cancer Research (1999-2005), The Alfred G. Knudson Chair in Basic Science (2005-2010), and he is currently the Dallas/Ft. Worth Living Legend Chair of Cancer Research.
