Biography

Damian Grimshaw is Professor of Employment Studies at Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester. He is also Director of EWERC, the European Work and Employment Research Centre in the Faculty of Humanities. He has been teaching and researching at MBS since 1997. He is internationally recognised for his research on internal labour markets, managing employment in networked organisations and changing national systems of wage determination. Current research includes an ACAS funded project on the transfer of HR practices along supply chains, a NorthWest survey on the employment effects of the economic crisis, a 5-country project on minimum wage systems, collective bargaining and pay equity funded by the European Commission and a Department of Health project on the social care workforce. His work is published in leading journals (eg. Human Relations, Organisation Studies), books (eg 'Fragmenting Work' published by Oxford University Press in 2005) and public bodies (eg. the 2009 CIPD report, 'Managing People in Networked Organisations').
