Robert M. Hanson is a professor of chemistry at St. Olaf College, in Northfield, Minnesota, where he has been since 1986. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology, working with Robert Ireland, John Roberts, and David Evans. Barry Sharpless. Prof. Hanson is the principal developer of the open-source Jmol applet and Project Director for the Jmol Molecular Visualization Project; his current interests focus on visualization of molecular structure in the areas of chemistry, molecular biology, crystallography, and solid state physics.
