Biography

Louise N. Johnson received her training in structural biology at the Royal Institution working on the enzyme lysozyme. She began her work with glycogen phosphorylase in 1972 and has remained in the field of control by phosphorylation ever since, moving to protein kinases and their role in the cell cycle... read moreand transcription. Dr. Johnson was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1990. From 2003-2008 she was Director of Life Sciences at the Diamond Light Source, the UK's new synchrotron source. Dr. Johnson passed away in September 2012 and is survived by her two children.
