Scott Weaver is Professor of Pathology and Director of the Institute for Human Infections and Immunity at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) as well as Scientific Director of the Galveston National Laboratory. After earning his Ph.D. in virology at the University of California, San Diego, he joined the UTMB faculty in the Department of Pathology in 1994. His research has focused on the ecology, evolution and pathogenesis of arthropod-borne viruses as well as on virus-vector interactions and vaccine development.
