Alan McKinnon is Professor of Logistics and Director of the Logistics Research Centre at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on the Future of Transportation. In 2003 he received the Sir Robert Lawrence Award, the highest distinction of the UK Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport for making a 'major contribution to transport and logistics over a sustained period'.
