Biography

Paula M. Vertino, PhD is a molecular cancer biologist whose research program focusses on basic mechanisms of altered epigenetics (DNA methylation/chromatin structure) and their contribution to human cancer development. After postdoctoral training in cancer genetics and epigentics at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center in Baltimore, MD, she joined the faculty at Emory University in 1996 where she is currently a tenured professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the Leader of the Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics Program in Emory's Winship Cancer Institute.
