Prof. Marc Kachelrieß German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) Heidelberg, Germany
1 TalkBiography
Marc Kachelrieß received his PhD from the Institute of Medical Physics (IMP) in 1998 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Willi A. Kalender. During this time, he developed reconstruction algorithms to reduce metal artifacts in x-ray computed tomography (CT). In parallel, Marc Kachelrieß introduced a new method that allows the... read moregeneration of motion-free images of the human heart using standard CT data. Thereby the clinical feasibility of retrospective electrocardiogram-correlated image reconstruction from CT data was proven. This method is now in world-wide use in clinical CT scanners. His current research covers image reconstruction of cone-beam CT data, iterative image reconstruction, image reconstruction algorithms in general, and sophisticated calibration techniques. In 2005 he was appointed Professor of Medical Imaging at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany and in 2011 he moved to the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) as a Group Leader in X-Ray Imaging and Computed Tomography. Marc Kachelrieß is author or co-author of more than 300 publications, and is the organizer of several conferences and workshops in the field of tomographic and high performance imaging.
