Biography

Ann Le Couteur is Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Newcastle University; Visiting Professor at the University of Durham and Honorary Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. She works within a multidisciplinary clinical academic team that provides specialist clinical services for children, adolescents and more recently adults with complex neurodevelopmental disorders... read moreincluding autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other mental health disorders. Research interests include the genetic studies of autism and the broader phenotype; evaluation of interventions and identification of transition needs for individuals with ASD; and the promotion of models of assessments and treatment across the lifespan, both in the UK and further afield. Ann Le Couteur chaired the work of a national working party that led to the publication of the National Autism Plan for Children (2003), was an external advisor for the Scottish Intercollegiate Guideline Network for ASD (2007) and the New Zealand ASD Guideline (2008).
