Biography

Fred Volkmar attended the University of Illinois and then Stanford University receiving his MD and an MA in Psychology in 1976. He has published several hundred research papers and numerous books and chapters. He is the primary author of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s practice guidelines on autism. His work has been supported by the NNIMH and NICHD. He was the primary author of the DSM-IV diagnostic guidelines for autism and related disorders.
