Biography

Joris Veltman is Associate Professor at the Department of Human Genetics, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, The Netherlands. His research focus is on studying the basic mechanisms underlying genomic disease, with a particular interest in the role of genomic copy number variations in common diseases such as mental retardation and... read moreschizophrenia. He has been involved in the implementation and application of genomic microarrays for the detection of copy number variations in the field of clinical genetics. His group was the first in the world to implement this approach for diagnostic genome profiling in mental retardation and the first to identify a disease gene with this approach.
