Prof. Dirk Schoenmaker Professor of Finance, Banking and Insurance, VU University Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Dirk Schoenmaker is Dean of Duisenberg School of Finance and Professor of Finance, Banking and Insurance at the VU University Amsterdam. He has published in the areas of central banking, financial supervision and stability, and European financial integration. Before his appointment at Duisenberg School in 2009, he served at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Netherlands. He was a member of the European Banking Committee as well as the Financial Services Committee of the European Union. In the 1990s he served at the Bank of England and was a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund. He studied business economics and law at Erasmus University Rotterdam and earned his PhD in economics at the London School of Economics.
