Biography

Dr. Maureen Brookes is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing within the Department of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Management and teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate marketing modules. A graduate of Canada's Guelph University, Maureen began her hospitality career with a fast track management program for Westin International Hotels & Resorts (now Westin and part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts). After a series of management positions in North America, Maureen came to England and was Owner and Director of a hotel in the Cotswolds for 14 years before joining Oxford Brookes University. Maureen completed her doctoral thesis on the design and management of diversely affiliated international hotel chains. She has also researched and published on international marketing standardization and the centric orientation of international hotel groups. Maureen has been actively involved in pedagogic research with publications on quality management and internationalization within higher education. She has also developed and delivered educational programs for hospitality firms including Marriott International, Rezidor and Whitbread and has undertaken consultancy work for La Fondation Pour La Formation Hoteliere. Maureen is also Owner and Director of a business services company.
