Biography

Rachel Patton McCord received her B.S. in Biophysics from Davidson College in 2004 and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Harvard University in 2010. She developed expertise in transcription factor binding and gene regulation during her doctoral work under the mentorship of Dr. Martha Bulyk. She pursued postdoctoral research investigating 3D... read moregenome architecture in Dr. Job Dekker’s lab at UMass Medical School. She joined the Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology faculty at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2016, where her lab combines experiments and computational analyses to study the influence of physical perturbations on 3D genome structure and its implications for cancer, radiation response, and progeria. Her research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Energy.
