Biography

Catherine Bushnell is Director of the Alan Edwards Centre for Research on Pain and the Harold Griffith Professor of Anesthesia at McGill University. She won the Frederick Kerr Award for Basic Research in Pain from the American Pain Society in 2003 and the Distinguished Career Award from the Canadian Pain... read moreSociety in 2002. Dr. Bushnell received a PhD in experimental psychology from the American University in Washington, D.C. and postdoctoral training in neurophysiology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Her research interests include forebrain mechanisms of normal and aberrant pain processing, cognitive modulation of pain, and the effects of chronic pain on brain function.
