Richard Ward, an international educator in the field of criminal justice and University of Illinois at Chicago’s longest-serving vice chancellor, died in February 2015 in Connecticut. He had been serving as associate vice president for special programs and sponsored research at University of New Haven, Connecticut. He travelled extensively throughout Asia as a consultant and lecturer, and was the author of numerous articles and books. He served as Dean and Director of the Criminal Justice Center at SHSU, and as Vice Chancellor for Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Vice President at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
