Abstract
This paper explores the effect of digital skills at the individual, company and national levels to meet the digital era. UK and European Union based case studies are utilised to fully understand how jurisdictions are preparing stakeholders with confidence and digital tools capability and mindsets. The paper explores how large financial services employers and EdTech are striving to meet the challenges of the accelerating digital era. Finally, it aims to further encourage momentum to close the gap in digital skills by preparing stakeholders for success in the digital age. It concludes that the option of not evolving with technologies and data through new digital skills is no longer feasible for successful careers and industries.

Author's Biography
Helen Packard is Data Strategy Manager for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Helen Packard has been delivering transformational change empowered by emerging technologies and a creative flair for over 20 years across the public and private sectors. She is an innovator, introducing new ideas and technologies as an empowering leader. She leads the digital skills agenda, data ethics and data strategy in her role at the FCA. Helen was recognised by the Women in Technology & Data Awards 2021 as the Winner of Above and Beyond while at the Bank of England. Helen is currently studying digital education at the University of Edinburgh and continues to speak on the digital skills challenges globally.
Louise Liu is a master’s student in development studies in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Ms Liu was educated at the London School of Economics and Political Science in Economics (LSE) and is currently studying development studies at SOAS, University of London. She has been a Research Assistant at LSE and Peking University, where she has effectively managed research projects, conducted thorough literature reviews and developed comprehensive data analysis.
