Abstract
Formerly known as the ‘Frontier Justice Collection’, the Territorial Court Case Files for the Washington Territory (1853–1889) are not only some of the most important records held by the Washington State Archives, but also some of the most fragile. This paper describes the multi-year process of digitising these records and sharing them online.

Author's Biography
Devrick Barnett is a research archivist with the Washington State Archives. He has previously worked as a project archivist with the Washington State Archives, preparing to move the collections to a new building and testing a new catalogue system. He also interned at the Washington State Archives Digital Archives and Eastern Region Branch, where he worked on imaging territorial court records to add the Digital Archives. He holds an MA in public history from Eastern Washington University.
Larry Cebula is a graduate of Manchester Community College (AA), University of Chicago (AB), Eastern Washington University (MA) and the College of William and Mary (PhD). He created and edits spokanehistorical.org — a website and smartphone app with almost 700 digital historical exhibits, written by students at Eastern Washington University. He is also the author of two books: ‘Plateau Indians and the Quest for Spiritual Power’ (Nebraska, 2003) and ‘Nearby History: Exploring the Past Around You’, 4th edn (Rowan and Littlefield, 2020).
