Abstract
Content teams at higher education institutions produce a vast array of content, from written profiles to YouTube videos that share excitement leading up to an event. Social media teams often amplify this content once, and often look for additional sources of content to fill content calendars throughout the year. This paper showcases how, through repurposing, content is maximised to its fullest potential and can reach more audiences in innovative ways. This paper shares strategies on how to best repurpose content, examples from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and best practices for institutions to keep in mind.

Author's Biography
Blaine Pugh is a Digital Media Analyst at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he provides recommendations and insights to improve content strategy and paid social campaigns for university communications. In his role, Blaine optimises digital marketing efforts and tracks and processes analytics for unc.edu and across all social platforms. Prior to his current role, Blaine worked in the music industry, where he gained experience in streaming and listener analytics working for independent and major record labels. He has also worked at non-profits dedicated to improving college access in his hometown of Winston-Salem, NC. Blaine graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in political science. In his free time, he enjoys meditating and collecting vinyl records.
Brittany Cowan is the Social Media Content Producer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, cultivating and implementing engaging multimedia content for the university's social media platforms. In her role, she helps amplify Carolina's messaging through interactive storytelling, utilises photo and video production trends to create content and collaborates with university communicators on social media messaging and campaigns. Before she worked at Carolina, Brittany held a variety of internships within the fields of social media and communications, including at Lenovo, Arch Capital Services and The Arc of High Point. Brittany earned her bachelor's degree in mass communication with a concentration in journalism and a minor in English writing from North Carolina Central University. In her free time, she enjoys going to the cinema and trying new restaurants.
Chelsey Holts is the Director of Social Media at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, overseeing the university's flagship accounts. In her role, she advises leadership on strategy and reputation, and works with a team to create and amplify engaging content for UNC-Chapel Hill's various audiences. She consults teams across campus on social media strategies, updates and crisis management. Previously, she has worked with North Carolina Central University, Essence Festival and Dreamville Festival. She has worked in the social media and marketing field for over 11 years. A graduate of the UNC Hussman School of Journalism, Chelsey is an Ohio native who enjoys coffee, reading, all things true crime and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Jane Rudenko is the Social Media Specialist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, creating and amplifying engaging and relevant content for the university's primary social media channels. In her role, she helps plan and implement social media campaigns, helps manage the university's reputation by monitoring social media for news and trends about or that affect the university and maintains the university's voice and tone on its social media platforms. Previously, she has worked as the media associate in a congressional campaign and as a student success specialist at Carolina. She earned a bachelor's degree in both philosophy and studio art from UNC-Chapel Hill. Jane is a Ukrainian-American who enjoys taking photos and painting in her free time.
