Invite colleaguesLeveraging technology for strategic workplace decisions
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the evolution of our global understanding of people, space and technology. This paper explores the impacts this will have on employees, employers and real estate. Employees will be given more options and choice of how, when and where they work. Employers will be faced with new challenges in the retention and attraction of talent and how to balance real estate needs versus cost (and start considering new metrics of success), and real estate will change in ways never before contemplated. As organisations navigate the journey to whatever is next, technology and data will be key elements in decision making and tracking what is working (and what is not). This will also require new skill sets in interpreting the information and a new focus on the effectiveness of the work environment, whether that is in the office, from home or at a third place.

Author's Biography
Simon Davis has spent 20 years in corporate real estate (CRE) and workplace technology (WP). A self-proclaimed ‘thought mover’, he has a deep knowledge of the history of why we got to where we are with CRE and WP technology, as well as a passionate view on the future of work (and the role place has to play) and the enabling technology that will be required. Simon spent five years working in commercial development in the UK, eight years in IWMS product development and sales, a combined four years in real estate technology consulting for Fortune 500 companies and has been a part of two successful start-ups (and one unmitigated disaster). Simon is the CEO and Founder of Purposeful Intent, a community developed to give corporate occupiers an authentic place (in-person and remote) to discuss the challenges and success of the future of work. Purposeful Intent embodies Simon’s views on the future of work: a hybrid, four-day-a-week company, focusing on family first, benevolence and providing employees with the best benefits available. Personally, Simon is an active board member for the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA and an Ambassador for the Special Operations Forces Support Foundation, whose mission is to help ensure that the Special Operations Forces of the US Military receive the support they need to effectively carry out their operations, keep their families intact, and lead a healthy and productive life after they have left national service.
Corinne Murray is Chief Strategist at Purposeful Intent, a newly formed future of work and workplace advisory practice, where she advises workplace and employee experience decision makers navigate the ambiguity of hybrid work and company culture through Purposeful Intent workshops and her guiding philosophy, Effectiveness as a Service. Passionate about broadening our understanding of productivity and experience, Corinne coaches leaders to consider how the concepts are interconnected by leveraging elements of human resource (HR), real estate, communications, IT to design more inclusive and iterative company cultures. Based in Brooklyn, NY, Corinne has spent her career in various corners of the real estate industry, striving to bring practical and usable innovations to occupiers, landlords and service providers alike. Prior to Purposeful Intent, Corinne worked at IMPEC Group, RXR, WeWork, Gensler, American Express and CBRE and graduated from Gettysburg College with a Bachelor’s degree in religious studies and philosophy.
