Worthy of trust: Protecting minority privacy in diversity reporting

Abstract
This paper highlights potential risks to privacy in diversity monitoring and reporting. It explores the reputational drivers behind reporting, and the specific challenges presented when reporting on ‘hidden’ or ‘invisible’ aspects of diversity. It raises operational considerations that come about as a result of these challenges and suggests that an integrated approach aimed at increased trust among all stakeholders is likely to yield the greatest business benefits from reporting activities.

Author's Biography
Matthew Bellringer is an innovation consultant and social entrepreneur specialising in work with neurodivergent professionals, academics and entrepreneurs. He is based in the UK and works internationally. Matthew has extensive experience in the design and development of effective and secure technology platforms in Higher Education, Third Sector and commercial organisations. As a volunteer for BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, he is Chair of NeurodiverseIT, a group for neurodivergent IT professionals. A neurodivergent person himself, he has lived experience of the issues discussed in this paper.
