Abstract
The University of Arizona's Alumni and Development Program evolved from a highly decentralised stewardship environment to a hybrid-based stewardship programme to create a comprehensive, university-wide stewardship programme and a centrally based stewardship team. A cross-campus collaborative programme development team — the Stewardship Leadership Team — was established with a diverse group of frontline fundraisers, administrative leaders and unit-based staff with stewardship responsibilities. Over the course of 18 months, the Stewardship Leadership Team worked together to develop university-wide baseline donor stewardship standards and guidelines. The approach to building the programme is outlined and its outcomes.

Author's Biography
Tana Jones is the Senior Director of Stewardship with the University Alumni & Development Program. Joining the university in 2015, she developed a comprehensive stewardship programme for the University of Arizona's Health Sciences and later joined the central advancement office with the goal of building a university-wide stewardship programme. Prior to joining academic advancement, she dedicated 20 years to the non-profit community, directing development programmes for cultural and social service organisations.
Andrea L. Miller is a senior vice president with the University Alumni & Development Program, and passionate about engaging alumni and friends in supporting the University of Arizona. She joined the Foundation team in 2011 and oversees alumni and constituent engagement, annual and leadership, giving marketing and communications, donor relations and stewardship, board relations and business partnership programmes. Andrea unwittingly launched a career in development 25 years ago as an undergraduate student caller at her alma mater, Northwestern University. Since then, she has served the missions of diverse organisations — including Make-A-Wish America, the Thunderbird School of Global Management, an agency for homeless youth and Phoenix Children's Hospital.
