Abstract
The phrase ’compliance education’ can merit a bleak response. At times, institution’s compliance functions are associated with occupational constraint rather than encouraging ethical progress. Furthermore, employees overwhelmed by an abundance of trainings can experience fatigue. To encourage a positive response, strategic digital solutions that use learning mediums familiar to the user are necessary. This paper aims to provide insight on how videos can be used to improve compliance education.

Author's Biography
Brendan Miller is a Compliance Associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY). As a member of Compliance’s Governance and Assessment Division, Brendan is responsible for producing a number of reports for dissemination to the Bank’s senior management. Included in this portfolio are the Compliance Annual Report, the annual Fraud Risk Assessment Report, the quarterly Compliance Risk Tolerance profile and General Counsel Briefing Book. Brendan also co-leads the Compliance Function’s learning and communications strategy, including the development of initiatives designed to provide ongoing education to FRBNY staff on the Compliance Risk Management Framework. Prior to joining the Compliance Function, Brendan served for six years in the Bank’s Financial Intelligence and Investigations Unit as a Subpoena Compliance Analyst. Brendan conducted investigations into Fedwire, the Federal Reserve’s electronic funds transfer system. His duties included liaising with law enforcement partners, managing intake, researching subjects and responding to time-sensitive request. Brendan also coordinated in-person information sessions to educate enforcement agents on wire fraud. He has an active role in furthering the Bank’s diversity and inclusion goals through leadership and activism. He is a founding member of the Legal Groups Diversity and Inclusion Committee. He has taken a lead role in drafting the committee charter, organising events and communicating on behalf of the group to the Bank’s General Counsel and Legal Group members. He is also a member of the Bank’s African American and Latino Men’s Alliance. Prior to working at the Bank, Brendan worked as a compliance specialist for a securities broker dealer. Brendan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut, is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
