Abstract
Many Americans now have access to faster payments through Early Warning Services’ Zelle or through services provided by their financial institution that utilise the RTP network, the real-time payment system launched by The Clearing House in 2017. In this interview, Attila Csutak, Vice President and Product Manager of RTP and Zelle for KeyBank, shares insights into KeyBank’s first full year of operations with Zelle and the RTP network. He also discusses the current state of faster payments adoption in the USA, and offers observations on the potential impacts of real-time payments in the coming years.

Author's Biography
Brian Laverdure is Director, Emerging Payments Education for EPCOR, a US payments association. He is responsible for developing and presenting EPCOR’s training on emerging payments technology and trends. Brian obtained his Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification in 2013. He holds a BA in history from the University of North Carolina- Asheville and an MA in American history from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Payments Strategy & Systems.
Attila Csutak is a Vice President, Product Manager in KeyBank’s Enterprise Payments division, where he leads the rollout of faster payments across KeyBank’s retail and commercial footprint. Attila works extensively with many industry groups, including the Payments Innovation Alliance and the Federal Reserve faster payments project.
