Abstract
Innovative sustainability technology not only saves businesses money on energy costs, but also serves as a means of providing information and data about how the building is running to drive overall efficiency. It is about using information technology to shape both the way people work and the spaces in which they do it. By taking the individual as a starting point, higher levels of satisfaction, health and productivity could be achieved, as well as better utilisation of spaces. With the example of two case studies, this paper explains the possibilities and benefits for corporate real estate organisations of embedding technology into their buildings, as well as demonstrating the challenges.
