Abstract
This paper explores the impacts of global climate change and unpredictable winter weather patterns on airports. With increasingly unpredictable weather patterns, airports will need to explore new tools and methods to address winter operations challenges. Some of the causes and effects of global climate change are explored, and examples of these effects are referenced.

Author's Biography
Ryan Sheehan is the Director of Operations and Maintenance for Spokane Airports. He has worked in aviation for more than 23 years, starting in ground service with Horizon Air in 1995. He has been in airport operations since 2001 and has been with Spokane Airports since 2008, originally as the Operations Manager, and as the Director of Operations and Maintenance since 2010. Ryan holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Management of Technical Operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master’s Degree in Organisational Leadership from Gonzaga University. He is an Accredited Member of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and is the co-lead of the Winter Operations Working Group for the AAAE Operations, Safety, Planning and Emergency Management Committee. Spokane Airports is a two-airport system that includes Spokane International Airport, a small-hub commercial service airport, and Felts Field, an active GA Reliever with nearly 60,000 operations annually.
