Abstract
The need for airports to further develop non-aeronautical revenue continues to be a major concern for worldwide, privatised and commercially focused airports. The aim of this paper is to analyse future trends in non-aeronautical revenue sources and to identify both the opportunities available and possible threats to current revenue streams. This paper utilises Adelaide Airport operations as a case study and investigates the various factors potentially impacting non-aeronautical revenue in this context.

Author's Biography
James Moulds is commercial manager at Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) and has worked in the airport industry for 15 years. AAL operates Adelaide Airport and Parafield Airport, both located in South Australia. Mr Moulds holds a Bachelor of Management (tourism management) and Bachelor of Business (commercial law) from the University of South Australia and a Master of aviation management degree from Griffith University.
Gui Lohmann is associate professor in aviation management and postgraduate program director at Griffith University’s aviation department (Australia). Dr Lohmann was responsible for developing the graduate certificate in airport management, a unique postgraduate programme offered online by Griffith University. He has authored several books and peerreviewed journal articles on air transport studies, particularly in the interface with tourism, transport geography and air transport economics. In recent years, he has partnered with Queensland Airports Ltd (QAL) in a number of research projects, including topics such as: ‘willingness-to-pay’ for airport infrastructure development; the regulatory regime of Australian airports; travel patterns and behaviours of outbound airport passengers; and the role of ‘land value capture’ on financing public transport. Dr Lohmann has also worked as a consultant for the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism, the World Tourism Organization and the United Nations Environmental Program, apart from giving training to the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority personnel (UAE) and the Danang Center for Tourism Promotion, Vietnam.
