Abstract
The move to the platform economy, also known as platformification, is now a commonplace discussion for financial services professionals. Harnessing the resources of application programming interfaces and the cloud is part of day-to-day conversations, and senior banking executives are only too aware of the need to update skills and technologies to survive and thrive in this new landscape. This paper examines the drivers, opportunities and barriers to the adoption of a platform approach. Disruption is already here. Those banks that have not yet woken up and smelled the coffee — or are dragging their feet when it comes to business transformation — are at greatest risk.

Author's Biography
Eli Rosner is Chief Product and Technology Officer for Finastra and is responsible for its product and technology organisations. His main areas of accountability include product, solution and platform strategy, product portfolio management, product management, innovation, customer centric design, architecture, engineering and quality assurance. He brings more than 25 years of experience to the role, from product and platform strategy and architecture to the solutions development life cycle and data centre operations. Before joining Finastra, he held leadership positions at NCR Corp, a global technology company. He was most recently chief technology officer and head of product management, driving the transformation from a hardware and services company to a global leader in platform, data and solutions for financial services, retail and hospitality.
