Abstract
This case study examines the steps involved in managing curbside and ground transportation operations with a contractor when the duties cannot be managed in house. It walks the reader through a variety of steps including observations and interactions with the contractor. The results of the study indicated the effectiveness of a contractor who is in full support of the airport’s Ground Transportation Programme as an extension of internal staff when limited technologies are available on site.

Author's Biography
Karolynn Willman is responsible for ground transportation field operations, landside operations and commercial vehicle code enforcement at the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Karolynn is often invited to speak at local, regional and national conferences about ground transportation, ground transportation management programmes and landside management. She started her education as a professional pilot and expanded her working experience through aviation management with positions in airside, terminal, landside, airport communication control centre and aviation security. Karolynn’s formal education includes a degree in aviation management with a minor in criminal justice as well as a certificate in emergency management. She is currently working on her master’s in public administration with a concentration on local and state government.
