Abstract
The Lead Sheet Association is a trade association that represents manufacturers of rolled lead sheet to BS EN 12588 and provides the construction industry with an independent technical advisory service. Rolled lead sheet is indisputably one of the great building materials and for centuries has been used to cover roofs of cathedrals, churches and public buildings; there are countless other applications of lead sheet seen on houses and offices around the world. This paper will provide you with an overview of best practice in using rolled lead sheet in construction, complying to the British Standards, with details, drawings and tables reproduced from the LSA's latest edition of Rolled Lead Sheet — The Complete Manual.1 In particular it draws attention to some of the key areas that should be looked for in building surveying, highlighting the fact it is getting the small details correct that means that those using the material will get the best out of it.
