Invite colleaguesAchieving a better balance: Building the ‘translational’ business school and university
Abstract
This paper assesses an aspect of the parallel universe of business schools’ research and its judged marginal relevance to business practice by looking at the almost total separation of the governance at some leading academic journals from business practitioners. A secondary comment is made about the separation of academic conferences and business practice conferences. This is contrasted to the many ways in which business schools interface with business. The notion of building translational research foci into academic, especially tenure, decision-making is advanced as a way to improve B-school research focus.
