Abstract
This paper discusses the legal status of French regional airports. It describes the new framework of airport companies in France and highlights key specificities. Opportunities for partial or full privatisation are given particular attention.

Author's Biography
Jean-François Guitard is Director, International Affairs for the Société des Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur. He is also General Secretary of PROAVIA, the French Airport and Air Traffic Control Technology Trade Association, as well as a lecturer in the Department of Airport Management at the University of Aix en Provence and the French Civil Aviation School. His doctorate in air law is supplemented by an executive MBA from HEC Paris.
