Invite colleaguesThe evolving dynamic between airports and ground handlers in Europe: A handler's perspective
Abstract
From modest beginnings at Brussels International Airport, Aviapartner now has a presence at 29 airports in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy — and more than 60 stations in total, including partnerships with local cargo handlers. This provides an ideal perspective on how European airports of different sizes manage their respective ground-handling markets, as well as the relationships they seek to create with ground service providers. This paper examines the provision of full ground-handling services at European airports and explores best practice in creating and managing a dynamic, efficient and quality-oriented ground-handling environment, with particular emphasis on the changing relationship between ground handlers and the airports at which they operate.
