Abstract
Animated titles have become a standard for live, over-the-air broadcasts. Watching modern television without lower-thirds, bugs, tickers and score-line readouts is unthinkable, especially for live sports. The workflows for adding graphics like these to cable and over-the-air broadcasts are well established. For live-streaming and video-on-demand content, however, adding these same rich, animated and variable title assets can present significant challenges for broadcasters and content creators. As streamed content can show up on a range of device types and screen sizes, content producers need to leverage template-driven graphics and titling workflows that look just as good on a mobile phone as they do on a large-screen display. This paper looks at new technologies and processes for creating and utilising graphics that work in modern production environments.
